Modifying the Properties of a Local Authentication User
This operation enables you to change the password, and modify the primary group and the description of a local authentication user.
Context
The change of a local authentication user or domain user (including user disabled or deleted, user password changed or expired, and the owning group changed) that access a CIFS/FTP/NFS share takes effect after the user is authenticated again. You can mount the share again to trigger the authentication.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Choose
Provisioning >
User Authentication > Local Authentication User.
- Select the local authentication user whose properties you want to change.
- Click Properties.
The Local Authentication User Properties dialog box is displayed.
- Change the password of the local authentication user.
- Click Change password.
- In New Password, enter a new password.
The default password requirements are:
- Must contain 8 to 16 characters.
- Must contain special characters. Special characters include: !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[\]^`{_|}~ and spaces.
- Must contain any two types of the uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and digits.
- Cannot contain three consecutive same characters.
- Differs from the user name or the reverse of the user name.
You can modify the password security policy in Set Security Policies.
- In Confirm Password, enter the new password again.
- Modify the primary group.
- Click
next to Primary Group.
The Select Primary Group dialog box is displayed.
- Select a new user group and click OK.
The system goes back to Local Authentication User Properties dialog box.
- Click
- Modify Description.
- Click OK.
The Success dialog box is displayed.
- Click OK.
