Restoring a Storage Node to Factory Defaults Using a Script

Restoring a Storage Node to Factory Defaults Using a Script

Prerequisites

This operation will delete all data, stop all service, and restore the storage node to factory defaults. The software that you have deployed and all configurations will be cleared after this operation is performed. Make sure that you want to continue this operation. If this operation is performed by mistake, do not perform further operations and contact Huawei technical support engineers.

Context

Table 8-1 lists the items that will be restored to their factory defaults.

Table 8-1  Items that will be restored to factory defaults

Item

Mandatory or Not

Remarks

Uninstalling storage cluster software

Yes

Uninstall storage cluster software from a storage node.

Clearing network configuration

No

Except the IP address and gateway of the Mgmt port, clear network configurations of all ports, including IP addresses, default gateways, bonds, and routes.

If the installation fails, you need to reinstall the software. Before the reinstallation, you are advised to clear network configurations.

Clearing cluster ID(ESN)

No

Procedure

  1. Log in to a storage node.

    • When you log in to the storage node using the KVM locally, see section Logging In to the Storage Node Using the KVM in the appendix.
    • When you log in to the storage node using PuTTY remotely, see section Remotely Logging In to a Storage Node Using PuTTY in the appendix. You need to use the cluster management IP address to log in to management nodes, and then use the back-end storage network IP address to log in to non-management nodes. Clear the non-management node environments and then the management node environments. If you clear the management node environments first, the cluster management IP address may be unavailable and cannot be used to log in to non-management nodes.

  2. Run the cd /opt/product/deploy/script and sh clean.sh commands.

Enter the verification code as prompted to confirm permissions and select whether to clear network settings, and to clear the cluster ID. After the storage node is restored to factory defaults, wait five minutes until the system restarts.

The default verification code is Clean@storage. Run the sh /opt/product/deploy/script/clean.sh chVerification_Code command to change the verification code.

    NOTE:

You must change the default verification code upon delivery of the system to reduce potential security risks. You are advised to periodically change the password.
