Removing a GPU Card

Removing a GPU Card

Procedure

  1. Remove the GS608. For details, see Removing the GS608.
  2. Place the GS608 on the ESD floor.
  3. Remove the cover. For details, see Removing the Cover of the GS608.
  4. Determine the GPU card to be removed. See Figure 5-118.

    NOTE:

When locating a faulty GPU on the OS, you need to use the bus ID to find the corresponding GPU slot.

Find the physical slot of the GPU card according to the bus ID. For the mapping between the bus IDs and the physical slots of the GPU cards, see Table 5-3.

  5. Loosen the four screws on the left and right sides of the heat sink to be removed using a Phillips screwdriver. See (1) in Figure 5-119.

Figure 5-119 Removing a GPU card and heat sink

  6. Remove the heat sink.
  7. Loosen the four screws in the middle of the GPU card using a Phillips screwdriver. See (2) in Figure 5-119. Then loosen the other four screws on the GPU card. See (3) in Figure 5-119.
  8. Remove the GPU card from its slot.
  9. Place the removed GPU card in an ESD bag.
  10. If a new GPU card is to be installed, install the removed GPU card bracket on the new card. For details, see Installing a GPU Card.
  11. Install a GPU filler module in the slot if you do not want to install a GPU card immediately.

    1. Align the GPU filler module with the positioning holes in the slot, and place the GPU filler module in the slot vertically downwards.
    2. Tighten the screws on the GPU filler module using a Phillips screwdriver. See (1) in Figure 5-120.
