Installing a 2.5-inch Drive
The G560 V5 supports a maximum of two 2.5-inch SAS/SATA drives and six 2.5-inch SAS/SATA/NVMe SSDs.
You do not need to power off the G560 V5 before installing a drive.
Procedure
- Determine the location for installing the drive. Figure 5-1 shows the locations of SAS/SATA drives and NVMe SSDs.
To ensure optimal access performance, install NVMe SSDs in sequence from slots 4, 7, 5, 8, 6, to 9.
- Take a spare drive out of its ESD bag.
- Open the ejector lever completely and insert the drive into the slot until it cannot move forward. See (1) in Figure 5-2.
- Close the ejector lever. See (2) in Figure 5-2.
- Check whether the drive is installed successfully by observing the drive indicator status. For details, see Front Panel Indicators and Buttons.
- Configure the drive based on the actual situation. The following is only for reference:
- If the original drive is not in the RAID array, the new drive becomes idle. You are advised to set the new drive as a global or dedicated hot spare drive. The procedure ends.
- If the original RAID array (for example, RAID 0) does not support redundancy, reconfigure RAID. The procedure ends.
- If the original RAID array is redundant and has a hot spare drive, the new drive becomes idle. You are advised to set the new drive as a global or dedicated hot spare drive. The procedure ends.
- If the original RAID array is redundant but does not have a hot spare drive, data is automatically rebuilt to the new drive. The procedure ends.
