Modifying Physical Drive Properties (pdconfig)


The pdconfig command is used to modify properties of a physical drive managed by a RAID controller.


ipmcset -t storage -d pdconfig -v <pdid> [-state <pdstate>] [-hotspare <hotsparetype> [-ld <ldid>]] [-locate <locatestate>] [-cryptoerase]






Specifies the ID of the physical drive.

0 to 255
pdstate Specifies the status of the physical drive.
  • online: The drive is online.
  • offline: The drive is offline.
  • ug: The drive is idle.
  • jbod: The drive is a JBOD disk.
hotsparetype Specifies the hot spare status of the physical drive.
  • none: It is not a hot spare disk
  • global: It is a global spare hot disk.
  • dedicated: It is a dedicated spare hot disk.
ldid Specifies the ID of the logical drive.

If hotsparetype is dedicated, you need to set the logical drive associated with this physical drive.

locatestate Specifies the status of the location indicator of the physical drive.
  • start: The location indicator is flashing.
  • stop: The location indicator is off.

Usage Guidelines

The -cryptoerase parameter in the command indicates erasing data from the encrypted drive.


Only iBMC V320 and later versions support data erase from encrypted drives.

This command can be used only when either of the following conditions is met:


# Erase data from encrypted physical drive 1.

iBMC:/-> ipmcset -t storage -d pdconfig -v 1 -cryptoerase
