RAID Controller Card

Removing the RAID Controller Card

  1. Determine the position of the RAID controller card to be removed. See Figure 3-24.

  2. Remove the supercapacitor. For details, see Supercapacitor.
  3. Remove cables from the RAID controller card.
  4. Loosen the screws on the RAID controller card. See (1) in Figure 3-25.

  5. Slowly lift the RAID controller card upwards away from the connector on the mainboard. See (2) in Figure 3-25.
  6. Place the removed RAID controller card in an ESD bag.

Installing the RAID Controller Card

  1. Take a spare RAID controller card out of its ESD bag.
  2. Determine the position for installing the RAID controller card. See Figure 3-24.
  3. Insert the RAID controller card downwards into the connector on the mainboard. See (1) in Figure 3-26.

  4. Screw the RAID controller card using the M3 Phillips screwdriver. See (2) in Figure 3-26.
  5. Connect the cables to the ports as indicated by the silkscreen. For details, see Cabling.
  6. (Optional) Install the supercapacitor. For details, see Supercapacitor.

    NOTE:

    For the LSI SAS3108 and Avago SAS3508 controller card, you can configure a supercapacitor to provide power failure protection.
