Removing the XH321L V5

Workflow

Figure 3-3 shows the process for removing an XH321L V5.

Procedure

  1. Determine the XH321L V5 to be removed and power it off.

    Figure 3-4 shows the slot numbers of server nodes in an X6000 chassis.

  2. Remove the multi-port cable.

    1. Press the two tabs on the multi-port connector of the multi-port cable. See (1) in Figure 3-5.

    2. Remove the multi-port cable horizontally from the universal connector port (UCP) on the server node. See (2) in Figure 3-5.

  3. Use a fiber extractor to remove the optical cable and optical module.

    1. Use a fiber extractor to clamp the optical cable connector and pull it out of the port. See Figure 3-6.
      • Replacing the optical cable, network cable, or optical module interrupts services.
      • Wear ESD gloves or an ESD wrist strap when using a fiber extractor to replace the optical cable, network cable, or optical module.
      • Do not apply too much force when using the fiber extractor to prevent damage to the optical cable, network cable, or optical module.

    2. Open the security pin, use a fiber extractor to clamp the optical module, and pull it out. See Figure 3-7.

  4. Remove inlet and outlet tubes.

    1. Remove the inlet tube.

      Slide the connector of a water inlet/outlet tube outwards, and then pull it out. See Figure 3-8.

    2. Remove the outlet tube in the same way.

  5. Remove the XH321L V5.

    NOTE:
    • To protect hands from the heat of the server node, wear protective gloves when removing a server node.
    • Do not squeeze the water inlet or outlet tubes when removing a server node.
    • To avoid device damage or personal injury, hold the bottom of a server node with both hands when removing it.
    1. Press the ejector latch on the server node. See (1) in Figure 3-9.

    2. Raise the ejector lever. See (2) in Figure 3-9.
    3. Hold the ejector lever and carefully pull the server node out of the chassis. See (3) in Figure 3-9.
    4. Place the removed server node in an ESD bag.

      Place only one server node in an ESD bag.
