Installing the XH321L V5

Workflow

Figure 3-10 shows the process for installing an XH321L V5.

Procedure

  1. Unpack the server node.

    1. Check that the packing case and seals are in good condition.
      NOTE:

      If the packing case is damaged (for example, the packing case is soaked or deformed, or the seals or pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is unsealed), fill in the Cargo Problem Feedback Form.

    2. Use a box cutter to cut the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape on the packing case.

      When using a box cutter for unpacking, avoid personnel injury or damage to the device in the packing case.

    3. Unpack the server node. See Figure 3-11.

    4. Take out the ESD bag containing the server node, and place it on an ESD mat. See Figure 3-12.
      NOTE:

      Take a server node out of its ESD bag only immediately before installation.

  2. Determine the installation position.

    Locate the slot where the XH321L V5 is to be installed. Figure 3-14 shows the slot numbers.

    NOTE:
    • The X6000 supports a maximum of four XH321L V5 server nodes.
    • You are advised to install the server nodes first in the lower slots and then in the upper slots.

  3. Remove the filler module.

    1. Press the ejector latch on the filler module. See (1) in Figure 3-15.

    2. Raise the ejector lever. See (2) in Figure 3-15.
    3. Hold the ejector lever and pull the filler module out of the slot. See (3) in Figure 3-15.
    4. Place the removed filler module in an accessory recycle bin.

  4. Install the XH321L V5.

    NOTE:
    • Do not squeeze the water inlet or outlet tubes when installing a server node.
    • To avoid device damage or personal injury, hold the bottom of a server node with both hands when installing it.
    1. Press the ejector latch on the server node.
    2. Raise the ejector lever.
    3. Insert the XH321L V5 into the slot horizontally and push it into the chassis until the XH321L V5 cannot move forward. See (1) in Figure 3-16.

    4. Lower the ejector lever. See (2) in Figure 3-16.

  5. Install inlet and outlet tubes.

    The water inlet and outlet tubes of the server node must be correctly connected to the connecters on the liquid-cooled cabinet. The red connector indicates the water outlet and the blue connector indicates the water inlet.

    1. Slide the connector of a water inlet tube outwards, and then insert it into the connector on the cabinet. See Figure 3-17.
    2. Install the outlet tube in the same way.

  6. Connect the multi-port cable.

    1. Press the two tabs on the multi-port connector of the multi-port cable. See (1) in Figure 3-18.

    2. Insert the multi-port cable horizontally into the universal connector port on the server node. See (2) in Figure 3-18.

  7. Install the optical cable and optical module.

    1. Close the security pin on the optical module and insert it into the optical port until you hear a click.

      Replacing the optical cable, network cable, or optical module interrupts services.

    2. Insert the cable connector into the optical port of the optical module until you hear a click.

  1. Check the indicator status.

    Power on the server node, and observe the indicator status.
