Dependency and Limitation

Dependency and Limitation

This topic describes the dependencies and limitations of ETH PWE3 in the network design phase, and equipment configuration and commissioning phase.

Network Design Principles

Applicable Object Dependency and Limitation Remarks
Encapsulation mode for PW
  • Use the raw encapsulation mode for PWs.
  • If the Ethernet frames sent from the local AC contain one more layer of labels than those sent from the opposite AC, set the PW encapsulation mode to tag for the local AC and configure request VLAN and T-PID as required.

Configuration and Commissioning Principles

Applicable Object Dependency and Limitation Remarks
Ethernet service OAM

When Ethernet service OAM is used for ETH PWE3 packets, an MEP or MIP can only be created on a UNI port but not on an NNI port.
