Configuration Example: Services on the Non-Protection Chain

Configure the protection subnet and the services on the non-protection chain separately. You are advised to configure the protection subnet before configuring the services on the non-protection chain.

Networking Diagram

Configure a non-protection chain if protection is not required for services on the chain. All the timeslots on a non-protection chain can be used are transmitting services.

Figure 6-17 shows a point-to-point non-protection chain. In this example, an NE uses the S208 and U210 boards to transmit SDH services.

Service Planning on a Per-NE Basis

This topic describes service planning on a per-NE basis.

Signal Flow and Timeslot Allocation

Figure 6-18 shows the signal flow and timeslot allocation. One STM-64 service is added and dropped separately on NE1 and NE2.

Configuration Process (Configuration on a Per-NE Basis)

This topic describes how to create SDH services for an unprotected chain network on a per-NE basis, that is configuring SDH services for the source and sink NEs respectively.

Prerequisites

  • The physical topology of the network must be created.
  • The NEs, boards, and fibers must be created on the U2000.
  • An SDH network is a synchronous system and has high requirements on clock synchronization. Therefore, ensure that SDH clocks have been configured before configuring services and features. For details, see "Configuring Clock".

Procedure

  1. Configure virtual port mapping for universal line boards on the source and sink NEs. For details, see Configuring Virtual Ports and Mapping Paths by Station.
  2. Configure SDH services for the source NE (NE1).
    1. In the NE Explorer, open the operation window.

    2. Set the required parameters.
