(Optional) Configuring IPSec Gateway Redundancy Control

(Optional) Configuring IPSec Gateway Redundancy Control

Context

To improve network reliability, a branch can connect to the headquarters using multiple gateways. Therefore, the branch needs to determine through which gateway it establishes an IPSec tunnel with the headquarters. You can associate IPSec with VRRP so that the device controls IPSec tunnel setup according to the detected VRRP status. An IPSec tunnel can be established using a specified IPSec policy (corresponding to a specific gateway) to ensure that only one gateway is in use at any time, implementing gateway redundancy.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run ipsec policy policy-name seq-number isakmp

    The view of the ISAKMP IPSec policy is displayed.

  3. Run connect track vrrp vrid interface interface-type interface-number { master | backup }

    The device is configured to control IPSec tunnel setup according to the VRRP status.

    By default, the device is not configured to control IPSec tunnel setup according to the VRRP status.

    The connect track and disconnect track commands must be configured simultaneously to implement gateway redundancy.

  4. Run disconnect track vrrp vrid interface interface-type interface-number { master | backup }

    The device is configured to control IPSec tunnel teardown according to the VRRP status.

    By default, the device is not configured to control IPSec tunnel teardown according to the VRRP status.
