Configuration Precautions for Roaming

Configuration Precautions for Roaming

Precautions for Configuring the Roaming Function

  • A STA can roam between APs only when the two APs use the same service set identifier (SSID) and security profile. The security profile names may differ but their configurations must be the same.
  • In direct forwarding mode, if the ARP entry of the access device connected to APs is not aged in time after the STA roaming, services on the STA will be interrupted for a short time. It is recommended that the undo learn-client-address disable command be executed in the virtual access point (VAP) profile view of the AC to enable STA address learning. In this way, the AP will send gratuitous ARP packets to the access devices for ARP entry update, ensuring service continuity during the roaming.

    NOTE:

By default, STA address learning is enabled.
