Preparing for the Installation

Before you install an OS by using Smart Provisioning, make preparations as follows:

  • Obtain a PC running Windows. This PC is used to access the server.
  • Log in to Server Compatibility Checker to check whether the current configuration of the server supports the OS to be installed.
  • When you use Smart Provisioning to install an OS, you must install the OS on the boot disk.
  • Back up data on a hard disk before you install an OS on the disk using Smart Provisioning because the hard disk will be formatted during installation.
  • When installing an OS in Legacy mode, use a hard disk with a capacity less than 2 TB.
  • When you use Smart Provisioning to install an OS, if there are multiple RAID controller cards in the current environment, you cannot install OSs on different RAID controller cards.

To use the OS installation function, you must press F6 on the boot option selection screen to start Smart Provisioning, and you cannot start Smart Provisioning by mounting the Smart Provisioning image file.
