Diagnosing Hardware

  1. Access the Smart Provisioning main window, as shown in Figure 9-189.

    • If Smart Provisioning is accessed, click in the upper right corner to return to the welcome window. Then click Start in the welcome window to access the Smart Provisioning main window.
    • If Smart Provisioning is not accessed, access the Smart Provisioning main window by seeing Logging In to Smart Provisioning.

  2. Click in the upper right corner to enter the maintenance mode, as shown in Figure 9-190.

  3. Click Hardware Diagnose.

    The diagnosis window is displayed, as shown in Figure 9-191.

    Table 9-13 lists the vendors supported by the hardware diagnosis function.

    NOTE:
    • The function of obtaining hard disk slot information is supported only on servers using iBMC 2.53 or later.
    • The hard disk diagnosis function does not support scenarios where multiple RAID controller cards are used.
    • The hard disk diagnosis function supports the following hard disk vendors: Seagate, WDC, HGST, and Toshiba. The supported hard disk types inlcude SAS, SATA, and SSD.
    • The hard disk diagnosis function supports the following RAID controller card types: LSI SAS3008, LSI SAS3108, Avago SAS3408, Avago SAS3508, and PCH.

    CPU

    Perform a CPU pressure test. This mode is applicable to the short-term test scenarios.

    Perform a CPU pressure test. This mode is applicable to the long-term test scenarios.

    Memory

    Perform a memory pressure test with simple algorithms. This mode requires a short time period. It includes the ECC, UCNA, and retransmission error checks.

    Perform a memory pressure test with complex algorithms. This mode requires a long time period but can easily find memory errors. It includes the ECC, UCNA, and retransmission error checks.

    Hard disk

    Use the short self-check program of the hard disk SMART. This mode requires a short time period. It is applicable to scenarios where faulty disks need to be identified quickly.

    Use the long self-check program of the hard disk SMART. This mode requires a long time period. The test content is consistent with that of the quick mode. Generally, the quick mode is used first. If faults are detected, the full mode will be used.

  4. Click Next to view the diagnosis results, as shown in Figure 9-194.

    You can also click Export Log, set export parameters in the following window, and export the diagnosis results, as shown in Figure 9-195.

    Click Export.

    When th following information is displayed, the export is successful, as shown in Figure 9-196.
