Impact on the System

The HDLC link between the two ends remains Up but the traffic on the two ends cannot be properly forwarded.

Possible Causes

1.

The loopback command had been run on the interface of the HDLC link.
NOTE:
(The loopback function is used for specific tests and is not enabled usually.)

2:

A loop existed on the network.

Procedure

  1. Run the display interface command on the interface of the HDLC link to check whether the message "loopback is detected" is displayed.

    • If the message is displayed, go to step 2.
    • If the message is not displayed, go to step 6.

  2. Run the display current-configuration command to check whether the loopback function has been configured on the interface.

    • If the loopback function has been configured, go to step 3.
    • If the loopback function is not configured, go to step 4.

  3. Run the undo loopback command to delete the loopback function and check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If the alarm is cleared, go to step 6.
    • If the alarm is not cleared, go to step 4.

  4. Eliminate the existing loop based on the networking diagram and check whether the alarm is cleared.
