Packet filtering allows the device to only permit trusted packets to pass through. The device discards any untrusted packets. This function improves network security and allows flexible network planning.
As shown in Figure 7-1, packets of different services are identified by 802.1p priorities on the LAN. When packets reach the WAN, it is required
that data packets be filtered and voice and video services be ensured.
