Configuring Single-ended SLM in a VLAN

To perform packet loss performance measurement on the point-to-multipoint or multipoint-to-multipoint link, deploy single-ended SLM to monitor the link quality.

Context

VLAN-based single-ended SLM can be implemented in on-demand or proactive mode. On-demand single-ended SLM is initiated manually and calculates the frame loss at a time or periodically during diagnosis. Proactive single-ended SLM calculates the frame loss continuously.
  • To count single-ended packet loss performance of a link at a time or periodically, configure on-demand single-ended SLM.

  • To count single-ended packet loss performance of a link continuously, configure proactive single-ended SLM.

Procedure

  1. Perform basic CFM configurations on the MEP and RMEP.

    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run vlan vlan-id

      A VLAN is created and the VLAN view is displayed.

      By default, all interfaces belong to the default VLAN, that is, VLAN 1.

    3. Run port interface-type { interface-number1 [ to interface-number2 ] } &<1-10>

      The default VLAN is configured for an interface and the interface is added to the default VLAN.

      By default, VLAN 1 is the default VLAN of all interfaces.

    4. Run cfm enable (system view)

      CFM is enabled globally.

      By default, CFM is disabled globally.

    5. Run cfm md md-name

      The MD view is displayed.

    6. Run ma ma-name

      The MA view is displayed.

    7. Run map vlan vlan-id

      The MA is bound to a VLAN.

      By default, an MA is not associated with any VLAN.

    8. Run mep mep-id mep-id interface interface-type interface-number [ vlan vlan-id | pe-vid pe-vid ce-vid ce-vid ] { inward | outward }

      A MEP is configured.

    9. Run mep ccm-send [ mep-id mep-id ] enable

      The MEP is enabled to send CCMs.

      By default, a MEP is disabled from sending CCMs.

    10. Run remote-mep mep-id mep-id [ mac mac-address ]

      The RMEP is configured.

      NOTE:

      When this command is configured on the transmit device, the mac mac-address command must be configured. Otherwise, on-demand single-ended SLM cannot be configured, and proactive single-ended SLM can be configured but does not take effect.

    11. Run remote-mep ccm-receive [ mep-id mep-id ] enable

      The MEP is enabled to receive CCMs from the RMEP.

      By default, a MEP is disabled from receiving CCMs from an RMEP.

    12. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id remote-mep mep-id [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

      A test instance is configured.

      By default, no test instance is configured in an MA.

    NOTE:
    • The MEP ID on the transmit device must be the same as the RMEP ID on the receive device.
    • The RMEP ID on the transmit device must be the same as the MEP ID on the receive device.

  2. On the receive device enabled with single-ended SLM, run: loss-measure single-ended-synthetic receive test-id test-id [ time-out timeout-value ]

    The RMEP is enabled to receive SLM frames.

    By default, the REMP is not enabled to receive SLM frames in an MA.

  3. Configure single-ended SLM on the transmit device enabled with single-ended SLM.

    • Configure on-demand single-ended SLM.

      Run loss-measure single-ended-synthetic send test-id test-id interval { 10 |100 | 1000 | 10000 } [ sending-count count-value ] [ time-out time-out-value ] [ packet-size packet-size ] [ measurement-count measurement-count ]

      On-demand single-ended SLM is configured.

      By default, on-demand single-ended SLM is not configured in an MA.

    • Configure proactive single-ended SLM.

      Run loss-measure single-ended-synthetic continual send test-id test-id interval { 10 | 100 | 1000 | 10000 } [ sending-count count-value ] [ time-out timeout ] [ packet-size packet-size ]

      Proactive single-ended SLM is configured.

      By default, proactive single-ended SLM is not configured in an MA.
