Configuring Association Between Interface Backup in Active/Standby Mode and Routing

Background

As shown in Figure 2-10, RouterA communicates with RouterB through the primary interface Interface1. To prevent service interruption due to the link fault, a low-speed link is leased as the backup link. Association between interface backup and routing is configured on the backup interface of RouterA to implement route detection on the primary link and service switchover. The interface backup module monitors the routing entry of the uplink to the Internet. If the routing entry is deleted or becomes inactive, the interface backup module starts the backup interface. When the routing entry is restored, the interface backup module blocks the backup interface and starts the primary interface.

NOTE:
Only dynamic routes can be used.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring association between interface backup and routing, complete the following tasks:

  • Configuring routing protocols on the primary link and backup link to ensure connectivity at the network layer

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The backup interface view is displayed.

  3. Run standby track ip route ip-address { mask-address | mask-length } [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name ]

    Interface backup is associated with routing.

Checking the Configuration

After the configuration is complete, run the display standby state command to check the status of the backup interface and associated route.
