Collecting Meter Data

Meter data can be collected in the following modes:
  • Common collection: Meter data is collected by meter.
  • Accelerated collection: Meter data is collected by DCU.
The two collection modes are described as follows:
  • Common meter reading

    Figure 2-2 shows the common meter reading process.
    1. An administrator creates and delivers meter profiles to the EEM through a third-party application system.
    2. The EEM starts the installation work order, delivers the meter profile, and delivers the pre-collection template of the meter. Each meter has a default pre-collection template, which contains all the data items supported by the meter. You can modify the template as required.
    3. The DCP delivers the meter profile (including the pre-collection template) to the DCU.
    4. The DCU periodically obtains data from the meter based on the pre-collection template.
    5. The DCU saves the collected meter data to its storage space.
    6. The administrator creates a collection task on the EEM. The EEM decomposes the collection task and delivers it to the DCP.
    7. The DCP delivers the task to each DCU.
    8. The DCU checks whether the meter data is stored in the DCU storage space.
      • If so, go to 9.
      • If not, go to 11.
    9. The DCU sends a collection command to the smart meter.
    10. The meter returns the collection result to the DCU.
    11. The DCU sends the collection result to the DCP.
    12. The DCP reports the collected data and collection quality data (such as the collection success rate) to the EEM.
    13. The EEM classifies data, saves the data to the database, and instructs the application system to obtain data.
    14. The application system obtains the collected data from the EEM.
  • Accelerated meter reading

    Figure 2-3 shows the accelerated meter reading process.
    1. An administrator creates and delivers meter profiles to the EEM through a third-party application system.
    2. The EEM starts the installation work order, delivers the meter profile, and delivers the pre-collection template of the meter. Each meter has a default pre-collection template, which contains all the data items supported by the meter. You can modify the template as required.
    3. The DCP delivers the meter profile (including the pre-collection template) to the DCU.
    4. The DCU periodically obtains data from the meter based on the pre-collection template.

    6. The administrator creates a collection task on the EEM. The EEM decomposes the collection task and delivers it to the DCP.
