Networking Requirements

Figure 2-5 shows a residential area where meters are installed. The DCU (RouterA) functions as the data concentrator to manage all the meters in this area in a centralized manner. RouterA connects to a DCP (DCP) Through Uplink FE/SFP and connects to meters through PLC channels.

Meters in this residential area need to be managed in a unified manner and automated meter data reading must be implemented.

Configuration Roadmap

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

  1. Configure RouterA to communicate with the DCP through uplink FE/SFP.
  2. Configure basic device information and connection between the device and DCP to enable the device to register with the DCP. Configure the authentication level and ensure that the device and DCP have the same authentication level so that the two devices can authenticate each other.
  3. Configure communication between the device and meters and use the PLC communication mode for meter management.

Procedure

  1. Configure RouterA to communicate with the DCP in FE/SFP mode.
