Networking Requirements

Figure 2-6 shows a remote area where meters are sparsely distributed. The DCU (RouterA) functions as the data concentrator to manage all the meters in this area in a centralized manner. RouterA connects to a DCPr Through Uplink LTE/WCDMA and connects to meters through PLC channels.

Meters in this residential area need to be managed in a unified manner and automated meter data reading must be implemented.

Configuration Roadmap

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

  1. Configure an LTE cellular interface to implement communication between the device (RouterA) and DCP through the WCDMA network.
  2. Configure basic device information and connection between the device and DCP to enable the device to register with the DCP. Configure the authentication level and ensure that the device and DCP have the same authentication level so that the two devices can authenticate each other.
  3. Configure communication between the device and meters through PLC channels for meter management.


  1. Configure RouterA to communicate with the DCP through LTE/WCDMA.
