Communication Networking

The DCU supports professional power communication networking.
  • Uplink networking

    Networking between the device and a DCP is uplink networking.

    A DCU gateway can communicate with a DCP through 3G or FE/SFP. The DCP delivers a command to the DCU to obtain real-time data from the device for device monitoring.

  • Downlink networking

    Networking between the device and meters is downlink networking.

    A DCU gateway can communicate with meters through PLC, RS485 channels.

    • PLC technology can use existing power lines as transmission lines, reducing network investment.
    • RS485 cabling applies to the areas where meters are deployed in a centralized manner.

Communication Data

The DCU can respond to communication requests sent by a DCP and initiate communication requests to a DCP.

The device can respond to the following types of communication requests sent by a DCP:

  • DCU data query

    Device data includes the device status data, historical meter data, and event data stored in the device. When data to be queried does not exist, the device returns invalid data to the DCP.

  • Event reporting

    The DCU continuously detects events generated on itself and connected meters. When the DCU detects an event, it determines whether the event is a major event according to the configuration. If so, the DCU reports the event to the DCP, which then sends an acknowledgement packet to the DCU.
