Discarding of Unknown Multicast Flows
Context
Unknown multicast flows are multicast data flows that match no entry in the multicast forwarding table. By default, the industrial switch router broadcasts unknown multicast flows in the corresponding VLAN. Enabling the discarding of unknown multicast flows reduces instant bandwidth usage compared with the broadcast mode.
AR550C-4GE, AR550C-2C6GE and AR550C-2C6GE-2D do not support this function.
Procedure
- Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
- Run vlan vlan-id
The VLAN view is displayed.
- Run multicast drop-unknown
The industrial switch router is configured to discard unknown multicast flows.
After the multicast drop-unknown command is run, the industrial switch router discards all unknown multicast packets, including the protocol packets that are transparently transmitted within the VLAN and use the reserved multicast address.
