(Optional) Configuring the Router-Alert Option

(Optional) Configuring the Router-Alert Option

By default, the industrial switch router does not check whether Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) packets contain the Router-Alert option and sends all the MLD packets to the upper-layer routing protocol no matter whether the packets contain the Router-Alert option. Checking the Router-Alert option can improve system performance, reduce route costs, and increase network security. When the received MLD packets do not contain the Router-Alert option, the industrial switch router discards the packets.

By default, the industrial switch router sends MLD packets with the Router-Alert option.

For details about the Router-Alert option, see RFC 2113.
