Configuring Basic MSDP Functions

When a PIM-SM network is divided into multiple PIM-SM domains, configure basic MSDP functions on the multicast industrial switch router to allow the RP in each domain to learn information about multicast sources in other domains and members in each domain to receive multicast data from multicast sources in other domains.

Controlling SA Messages and the SA Cache

MSDP peers share (S, G) information by exchanging SA messages. To control SA messages in actual applications, configure the control over SA messages and the SA cache.

Configuring MSDP Anycast RP

MSDP anycast RP allows multicast sources to register with the closest RP and allows receivers to join the closest RP. This releases burdens on a single RP, implements RP backup, and optimizes the forwarding path.

The MSDP multi-instance configuration is included in all configuration tasks.

MSDP peer relationships can be set up between interfaces of multicast devices in the same instance (public instance or VPN instance). MSDP peers exchange SA messages to implement inter-domain VPN multicast.
