ALM-0149FFFF Above Upper Major Threshold (Inlet Temp)

ALM-0149FFFF Above Upper Major Threshold (Inlet Temp)

Description

Alarm message:

Above upper major threshold

This alarm is generated when the sensor detects that the air intake vent temperature is higher than the major alarm upper threshold. This alarm is cleared when the system detects that the temperature is restored to the acceptable range.

This alarm is generated by the following sensor:

  • Inlet Temp

Event code that corresponds to an alarm.

Impact on the System

The components on the mainboard cannot operate stably.

If this alarm persists, the air intake vent temperature increases, which triggers other alarms with higher severity. Therefore, you must locate the problems as soon as possible to prevent the problems from becoming worse.

Possible Causes

  • The temperature in the equipment room is excessively high.
  • The air intake vent is blocked.
  • The component where the air intake vent temperature sensor is located is faulty.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the equipment room temperature exceeds the normal range.

  2. Reduce the equipment room temperature to a normal range. Five minutes later, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to Step 3.

  3. Check whether the air intake vent is blocked.

  4. Remove barriers in the air intake vent. Five minutes later, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to Step 5.

  5. Check whether filler panels or baffles are installed in the idle slots or spaces between servers.

  6. Install filler panels or baffles the idle slots or spaces between servers. Then check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to Step 7.

  7. Replace the component where the air intake vent temperature sensor is located. Then check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • The air intake vent temperature sensor of an E9000 server chassis node is on the management module.
    • The air intake vent temperature sensor of an E9000 server compute node is on the mainboard.
    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to Step 8.
