Alarm message:

Power capping failed.

This alarm is generated when a sensor detects that the power capping value of the compute node is lower than the power reference value.

This alarm is generated by the following sensor: PwrCap Status

Impact on the System

The Compute Node cannot operate properly.

Possible Causes

  • The number of Compute Node or other components increases.
  • The power consumption of other components increases.


  1. On the HMM Web, choose PSUs&Fans > Power Management> Power Capping Settings.
  2. Click Edit, then check whether the power cap value of each compute node with power capping is in the valid range.

    • If yes, go to 4.
    • If no, go to 3.

  3. Set a valid chassis power cap value and click Save. Then check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 4.

  4. Click Cancel and check whether a CH242 compute node exists.

    • If yes, go to 5.
    • If no, go to 6.

  5. Disable chassis power capping. Then check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 6.

  6. On the HMM WebUI, choose System Management > Information Collection, and collect logs.
  7. Contact Huawei technical support.
