Optimizing ASM Disk Parameters

If Oracle Database 11g R2 ASM disk groups are created in normal or high redundancy mode, the default ASM heartbeat timeout period (_asm_hbeatiowait) is 15 seconds. The OCR disk groups are created in normal mode by default. To prevent a database breakdown caused by ASM heartbeat timeout, change the default value of _asm_hbeatiowait to 120 seconds in Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 or later.

Run the following commands:
