Log in to FusionCube Center, choose Resources > Storage, and click the storage pool, for example, FusionStorage01, as shown in Figure 1-1.

As shown in Figure 1-2, the total available capacity of storage pool StoragePool0 is 9.62 TB. Considering node fault redundancy, ensure that the copy quantities of all data are the same when a node in the storage pool is faulty. In addition, to prevent the storage pool from entering the write protection state due to excessive allocation, use the following formulas to calculate the capacity that can be allocated of a single storage pool:

  • If single-disk fault redundancy is used, the maximum capacity that can be allocated is calculated as follows:

    (Total storage pool capacity - s/k) x 87%

  • If single-node fault redundancy is used, the maximum capacity that can be allocated is calculated as follows:

    (Total storage pool capacity - n x s/k) x 87%

The total capacity of the storage pool is the total capacity shown in Figure 1-2 on the FusionCube Center WebUI. Select a fault redundancy scenario based on customer requirements to calculate the capacity that can be allocated of the storage pool.

NOTE:
  • s indicates the capacity of a single disk (unit: TB). For example, if a 3.2 TB NVMe disk is used, s = 3.2/(1.024 x 1.024 x 1.024 x 1.024) = 2.91 TB.
  • k indicates the number of copies in the storage pool. The value can be 2 or 3.
  • n indicates the primary storage quantity of a single storage node.

Then create shared volumes as follows. The total capacity cannot exceed the storage pool capacity that can be allocated.

Communicate with the customer to determine the quantity and size of volumes in the Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) area, whether an independent flash recovery area is required and the capacity of the area if required, the quantity and capacity of data area volumes, and other shared volume information.

  • The OCR area contains key cluster configuration information, including the public and dedicated network configuration information. It is recommended that five OCR volumes be used and the size of each volume be 10 GB.
  • The flash recovery area stores specific restoration files to manage database restoration in a centralized and simplified manner. This area prevents disk space exhaustion from affecting all instances when multiple instances are archived to the same disk. The recommended capacity of the flash recovery area is 800 GB. The capacity can be adjusted based on service requirements.
  • The data area stores data. The disk group size is determined based on service requirements. It is recommended that the capacity of a single disk in the data area be 1600 GB. Oracle RAC Shared Volume Plan provides the shared volume plan information.
