Optimizing Listener Parameters

Optimizing Listener Parameters

In Oracle 11g, the default timeout period is 60 seconds for listener.ora and sqlnet.ora. However, if the number of concurrent requests reaches 2000, most applications cannot connect to the database within 60 seconds. To prevent this problem, set the timeout period to 0 (no time limit) and restart the listener.

Perform the following operations on each database node.

Configure sqlnet.ora by adding the following command to the last line of the /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/network/admin/sqlnet.ora file:

SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT = 0

Configure listener.ora by adding the following command to the last line of the /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/network/admin/listener.ora file:

INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER = 0

Restart the listener to make the settings take effect.

[root@dbn01 ~]# su - grid
[grid@dbn01 ~]# lsnrctl stop; lsnrctl start

Run the following command. The operation is successful if "inbound_connect_timeout" set to 0 is displayed.

[grid@dbn01 ~]# lsnrctl
