Installing the Front-Drive Backplane

  1. Power off the server node.

    For details, see Power-Off Procedure.

  2. Remove the server node.

    For details, see Removing an XH628 V5.

  3. Place the server node on the ESD workstation.
  4. Remove the drive drawer.

    For details, see Removing the Drive Drawer.

  5. Remove front drives.

    For details, see Removing a Front SAS/SATA Drive.

  6. Install the front-drive backplane.

    1. Take the spare part out of its ESD bag.
    2. Determine the position of the front-drive backplane.

    3. Place the backplane on the front drive cage. See (1) in Figure 4-46.
    4. Tighten the screws to secure the backplane. See (2) in Figure 4-46.

  7. Connect the cables to the front-drive backplane.

  8. Install front drives.

    For details, see Installing a Front SAS/SATA Drive.

  9. Install the drive drawer.

  10. Install the server node.

    For details, see Installing an XH628 V5.

  11. Power on the server node.
