Removing the Cable Carrier

Procedure

  1. Power off the server node.

    For details, see Power-Off Procedure.

  2. Remove the server node.

    For details, see Removing an XH628 V5.

  3. Place the server node on the ESD workstation.
  4. Determine the position of the cable carrier.
  5. Disconnect the cable carrier from the drive drawer.

    1. Remove the data, power, and signal cables from the backplane for the 10-drive drawer.

      For details, see Internal Cabling.

    2. Pull apart the tab on the cable carrier connector in the arrow direction. See (1) in Figure 3-11.
    3. Keeping the tab open, remove the cable carrier connector. See (2) in Figure 3-11.

  6. Remove the drive drawer.

    For details, see Removing the Drive Drawer.

  7. Disconnect the cable carrier from the compute module.

    1. Remove the data, power, and signal cables from the mainboard to the backplane for the 10-drive drawer.

      For details, see Internal Cabling.

      NOTE:

      The data cable, power cable, and signal cable from the mainboard to the 10-drive backplane for the drive drawer are secured in the cable carrier. Before removing the cable carrier from the compute module, remove the cables from the mainboard.

    2. Loosen the screws on the cable carrier bracket. See (2) in Figure 3-12.
    3. Pull out the cable carrier and its bracket in the arrow direction. See (2) in Figure 3-12.

  8. Place the removed component in an ESD bag.
