Installing the Cable Carrier

Procedure

  1. Place the server node on the ESD workstation.
  2. Take the spare part out of its ESD bag.
  3. Determine the position of the cable carrier.
  4. Connect the cable carrier to the compute module.

    1. Install the cable carrier and its bracket in the arrow direction. See (1) in Figure 3-13.
    2. Tighten the screws to secure the bracket. See (2) in Figure 3-13.

    3. Connect the data, power, and signal cables from the backplane for the 10-drive drawer to the mainboard.

      For details, see Internal Cabling.

      NOTE:

      The data cable, power cable, and signal cable from the mainboard to the 10-drive backplane for the drive drawer are secured in the cable carrier. After connecting the cable carrier to the compute module, connect the cables to the mainboard.

  5. Install the drive drawer.

    For details, see Installing the Drive Drawer.

  6. Connect the cable carrier to the drive drawer.

    1. Insert the staple bolt on the right of the cable carrier connector into the hole on the right of the drive drawer connector. See (1) in Figure 3-14.
    2. Insert the staple bolt on the left of the cable carrier connector into the hole on the left of the drive drawer connector until the tab is locked automatically. See (2) in Figure 3-14.

    3. Connect the data, power, and signal cables to the backplane for the 10-drive drawer.

  7. Install the server node.

  8. Power on the server node.
