Applying a Multicast Profile to a VLAN

Applying a Multicast Profile to a VLAN

Context

A multicast profile implements the three-level multicast control mechanism. After configuring a multicast profile, apply it to a VLAN to authenticate users in this VLAN.

NOTE:
  • After user VLAN-based multicast VLAN is configured, a multicast profile can only be bound to the user VLAN.
  • After interface-based multicast VLAN is configured, a multicast profile can only be bound to the multicast VLAN.
  • If a VLAN is bound to multiple multicast profiles containing the same multicast groups, the multicast profile that is first bound to the VLAN takes effect for these multicast groups.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run vlan vlan-id

    The VLAN view is displayed.

  3. Run attach multicast-profile profile-name [ interface interface-type interface-number | mac-address mac-address ] *

A multicast profile is bound to the VLAN.

Multiple multicast profiles can be bound to a VLAN.

Controllable multicast can be implemented on an interface + VLAN basis. If you bind multiple user-side interfaces to the same VLAN in this mode, set the interface interface-type interface-number parameter to specify multicast profiles for these interfaces respectively.

  4. (Optional) Run max-program-num max-value [ interface interface-type interface-number | mac-address mac-address ] *

The maximum number of multicast groups that users can simultaneously join is set.

    NOTE:
Run the max-program-num max-value command in the multicast profile view to set the maximum number of multicast groups that users can simultaneously join. If the value is set in a VLAN and the multicast profile bound to the VLAN, only the configuration in the VLAN takes effect. If the value is not set in a VLAN:
    • The configuration in the multicast profile takes effect if the VLAN is bound to only one multicast profile.
    • The default value 8 is used if the VLAN is bound to multiple multicast profiles.
