Configuring the Retrieving Mode of a Clock Source

Context

In automatic clock source selection mode, if a new clock source becomes available or the current clock source becomes invalid, the device determines whether to switch the clock source based on the working mode of the clock source selection algorithm. There are two working modes of clock source selection algorithm: revertive and non-revertive.
  • Revertive mode: If the SSM quality level is used for clock source selection, the device automatically performs switching once a better clock source is determined based on the SSM quality levels and priorities. If the SSM quality level is not used for clock source selection, the device automatically performs switching once a better clock source is determined based on the priorities.
  • Non-revertive mode: If the priority of the current clock source is 255, the clock source has been locked using the clock lockout command, or the clock source is invalid, clock source selection needs to be performed again. During re-selection of a clock source, if the SSM quality level is used to select a clock source, the clock source is selected based on the SSM quality level and priority. If SSM quality levels are not configured to participate in clock source selection, a clock source is selected based on priorities. In other situations, the device uses the original clock source, instead of selecting a clock source with a higher priority.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run clock switch { revertive | non-revertive }

    The retrieving mode is configured.

    By default, clock nodes work in revertive mode.
