Configuring PTP on an Interface

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The interface view is displayed.

  3. Run ptp port-type { bc | tc }

    The clock type of the interface is set to TC or BC.

    By default, the clock type is not configured on an interface.

  4. Run ptp delay-mechanism { delay | pdelay }

    A delay measurement mechanism is configured.

    By default, no delay measurement mechanism is configured for PTP ports.
    NOTE:
    Different delay measurement mechanisms are not compatible. Therefore, PTP interfaces on a link must have the same delay measure mechanism configured.

  5. Run ptp enable

    PTP is enabled on the interface.

    By default, PTP is disabled on an interface.

  6. In the TC interface view, run:

    ptp domain domain-value

    The domain to which PTP interfaces belong is configured.

    By default, all PTP interfaces belong to the domain configured in the system view. When a TC interface of a device needs to transmit different clock source signals, configure the PTP domain to which the TC interface belongs.
    NOTE:

    A BC interface belongs to the PTP domain configured in the system view. So you do not need to configure a PTP domain for a BC interface in the interface view.

    You can specify the PTP domain to which a TC interface belongs in the interface view or use the PTP domain configured in the system view.

    A TC interface forwards PTP messages of PTP domains. To forward PTP messages of each domain independently, configure message forwarding mechanisms.

  7. (Optional) Run ptp clock-step { one-step | two-step }

    The mode in which PTP devices timestamp PTP messages to perform clock synchronization is configured.

    By default, PTP messages are timestamped in one-step mode.

Configuring an Interface to Drop Announce Messages

After configuring PTP on an interface, you can run the ptp announce-drop enable command on the interface to configure the interface to drop Announce messages.

Announce messages are used for PTP clock synchronization. When a user-side interface and the current PTP interface meet clock synchronization requirements, you can configure the PTP interface to drop Announce messages to retain the current master-slave hierarchy. After the interface receives Announce messages, it drops the messages and does not participate in establishing the master-slave hierarchy. This saves system resources.

NOTE:
By default, an interface does not drop Announce messages.
