Modifying File Policies
After creating file policies, you can modify them based on service requirements to control file system performance.
Context
- Before the policy is modified, if a file to be relocated does not match the new policy, it will be relocated in the background based on the existing policy.
- Before the policy is modified, if a file to be relocated matches the new policy, it will be relocated based on the new policy.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Go to the file system page.
- If you are a system user, click vStore, select the desired vStore, and click Details to go to the vStore view. Then, choose Provisioning > File System.

- Select one of the following to set the time type:
- Creation time: time when a file is created

- When configuring a relocation policy based on Access time for a file system, you are advised to enable Automatic Update of Atime. To enable this function, choose Provisioning > File System. Then select the desired file system, choose Properties > More > Advanced, and enable Automatic Update of Atime. After this function is enabled, wait a period of time until the Atime (access time) of the files is updated, and enable the Atime-based policy. If Automatic Update of Atime is disabled, frequently-accessed files in the file system may be wrongly relocated, resulting in slow access to these files.
- If you select Access time for Time, a Danger dialog box will be displayed. Read the content of the dialog box carefully, select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation, and then click OK.
