Analyzing File Systems

Context

When an analyzed file system is performing a relocation task, the data amount of the target medium includes the amount of data relocated and to be relocated.

For example, a file system is stored on HDD and SSD is the target medium. The file system has a physical size of 2 GB and 5000 files.

Relocation to the target medium SSD is as follows:

• Relocated: physical size of 1.5 GB, 3200 files
• To be relocated: physical size of 0.5 GB, 1800 files

In the results of file system analysis, SSD stores data of a physical size of 2 GB and 5000 files.

Procedure

1. Log in to DeviceManager.
2. Go to the file system page.
   • If you are a system user, click vStore, select the desired vStore, and click Details to go to the vStore view. Then, choose Provisioning > File System.
   • If you are a vStore user, choose Provisioning > File System in the vStore view.

3. Select a file system and click the File System Analysis tab in the lower function pane.
4. Select a horizontal coordinate from the drop-down list on the right.
5. Optional: Click Start to start analyzing the file system.
6. View the parameters of the file system.

7. Optional: Click Pause to pause the file system analysis.
8. Optional: Click Stop to stop the file system analysis. After the analysis restarts, statistics are cleared.
9. Optional: Click Clear to clear the statistics.
