Configuring Video Output

Configuring Video Output

After connecting video cables, set the video output parameters, such as output mode, resolution, refresh rate, and stretch mode. This will enable your endpoint to deliver a superior video experience.

Background

Table 1-13, Table 1-14, and Table 1-15 list the configurable video resolution and refresh rates of each video output port.

The higher the resolution, the clearer the image. The selected resolution must be the same as that of the connected display. The higher the refresh rate, the smoother the video. The selected refresh rate must be within the range supported by the display.

Procedure

  1. Choose System Settings > Input/Output and click the Video Output tab.
  2. Set the video output parameters listed in Table 1-16.

    Table 1-16  Video output parameters

    Parameter

    Description

    Setting

    GUI

Specifies the output port of the display interface.

The default value is 1 HDMI.

    Video output port

    Specifies the main output port.

    • When Dual-screen is set to Enable, this port is used to display the local or remote video.
    • When Dual-screen is set to Disable, this port is used to display the local or remote video or the local or remote presentation.

The default value is 1 HDMI.

    Presentation output port

Specifies the auxiliary output port for preferentially displaying presentation.

    • When Dual-screen is set to Enable, this port is used to display the local or remote presentation if a presentation source is plugged in and is used to display the local video or logo if no presentation source is plugged in.
    • When Dual-screen is set to Disable, this port is used to display the local video or presentation when the endpoint is not used in a conference, and is used to display the remote video or presentation when the endpoint is used in a conference.

The default value is 2 HDMI.

Do not set Video output port and Presentation output port to the same output port.

    Caption output

Specifies the video output port for captions.

The default value is 1 HDMI regardless of the Dual-screen setting.

    Dual-screen

Specifies whether the endpoint displays the video and presentation on separate displays.

    The default value is Disable.

    Output port policy

This parameter needs to be set only when Dual-screen is set to Enable.

When Collaboration under System Settings > GUI Display > GUI is set to Disable, the 1 large pane+N small panes option is unavailable.

An endpoint can be connected to two screens, which can be both untouchable (often named screens 1 and 2) or one touchable and the other untouchable.

The output port policy specifies the way in which video and content are displayed on two screens. Three output port policies are supported.
    • 1 large pane+N small panes
      • One touchable+one untouchable: Video and GUI are displayed on the touchscreen and shared content on the other screen.
      • Both untouchable: Video and GUI are displayed on screen 1 and shared content on screen 2.
    • Fixed
      • One touchable+one untouchable: Shared content and GUI are displayed on the touchscreen and video on the other screen.
      • Both untouchable: Shared content and GUI are displayed on screen 1 and video on screen 2.
    • Dynamic
      • One touchable+one untouchable: Video or shared content that has started just now is displayed on the touchscreen with GUI, and video or shared content previously opened is automatically moved to the other screen.
      • Both untouchable: Video or shared content that has started just now is displayed on screen 1 with GUI, and video or shared content previously opened is automatically moved to screen 2.
      • Shared content will not be squeezed out from the two screens.

The default value of Output port policy varies depending on the value of Collaboration under System Settings > GUI Display > GUI.

When Collaboration is set to Disable, the default value of Output port policy is Fixed.

When Collaboration is set to Enable, the default value of Output port policy is 1 large pane+N small panes.

    Stretch mode

Specifies how to adjust the aspect ratio of a video to fit the video into the screen.

    • Stretch: Automatically stretch the video to full screen with an unfixed aspect ratio.
    • No stretch: Automatically stretch the video to full screen with a fixed aspect ratio. Black borders may appear at the edges of the display.

    The default value is Stretch.

    Audio output

Specifies whether to enable audio output for the HDMI ports of the endpoint.

This parameter is available only for the HDMI ports.

    The default value is Enable.

    Video resolution

Specifies the video resolution. For details about the configurable video resolution of each video output port, see Table 1-13, Table 1-14, and Table 1-15.

    The default value is 1080p.

    Refresh rate

Specifies the video refresh rate. The available options vary depending on your settings of Video resolution. For details about the configurable refresh rates of each video output port, see Table 1-13, Table 1-14, and Table 1-15.

    The default value is 60Hz.

    Automatic layout mode

Specifies how the main output port of your endpoint displays the video and presentation during a conference.

    • Full screen: When a presentation is not being shared, your endpoint displays the remote video in full screen. When a presentation is being shared, your endpoint displays the presentation in full screen.
    • PiP: When a presentation is not being shared, your endpoint displays the local video and remote video in Picture in Picture (PiP) mode. When a presentation is being shared, your endpoint displays the presentation and video in PiP mode.

The default value is Full screen.

    Small window position

Specifies the position of the PiP window on the screen.

This parameter is available only when Automatic layout mode is set to PiP.

The default value is Lower right corner.

  3. Click Save.

    The settings take effect immediately.
