Configuring Fragmentation of IPv4 Packets

Context

If the length of an IPv4 packet exceeds the MTU on an interface, the packet will be discarded during transmission on the network. To solve this problem, enable fragmentation of IPv4 packets.

NOTE:

Only the CE12800E configured with ED-E, EG-E, and EGA-E series cards supports this function.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run ip fragment enable

    Fragmentation of IPv4 packets is enabled.

    By default, fragmentation of IPv4 packets is disabled.

  3. (Optional) Run ipv4 forwarding reassembling timeout time

    The reassembly timeout period of IPv4 fragmented packets is set.

    By default, the reassembly timeout period of IPv4 fragmented packets is 100 ms.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
