Creating an IPv6 Address Pool

Creating an IPv6 Address Pool

A DHCPv6 server selects available IPv6 addresses from an address pool and assigns these IPv6 addresses to DHCPv6 clients. You need to create an IPv6 address pool and configure its attributes, including the network prefix, lifetime, and IPv6 addresses that cannot be automatically assigned to clients.

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run dhcpv6 pool pool-name

An IPv6 address pool is created and the IPv6 address pool view is displayed.

By default, no IPv6 address pool is created.

  3. Run address prefix ipv6-prefix/ipv6-prefix-length [ life-time { valid-lifetime | infinite } { preferred-lifetime | infinite } ]

The network prefix and lifetime are configured.

By default, no network prefix or lifetime is configured.

  4. Run excluded-address start-ipv6-address [ to end-ipv6-address ]

The IPv6 address of the interface connected to DHCPv6 clients and IPv6 addresses that cannot be automatically assigned to clients are added to the list of IPv6 addresses that cannot be assigned automatically.

By default, all IPv6 addresses in the address pool can be automatically assigned to clients. If only one IPv6 address cannot be automatically assigned, specify the start-ipv6-address parameter only.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
