Networking Requirements

NOTE:

This configuration example is not applicable to the CE6810LI.

In Figure 10-11, the router connects to the user network through the Layer 2 Switch. The router runs MLDv2 and uses the Any-Source Multicast (ASM) model and Source-Specific Multicast (SSM) model to provide multicast services. HostA, HostB, and HostC on the network run MLDv1 and do not support MLDv2. The multicast sources Source1 and Source2 send multicast data to the multicast group FF13::3, but hosts only want to receive multicast data from Source1.

Configuration Roadmap

To meet the requirement, configure MLD snooping SSM mapping on the Switch.

  1. Create a VLAN on the Switch and add interfaces to the VLAN.

  2. Enable MLD snooping globally and in a VLAN so that users can receive multicast data.

  3. Configure an SSM group policy of MLD snooping to add the multicast group address of the ASM type to the SSM group range.

  4. Configure SSM mapping of MLD snooping so that users receive only the multicast data from a specified multicast source.

Procedure

  1. Create a VLAN and add interfaces to the VLAN.

  4. Configure SSM mapping.

    # On the Switch, configure MLDv2, enable SSM mapping, and configure the mapping between multicast group FF13::3 and source IP address FC00:0:0:3::3.

    The command output shows that a mapping entry (FC00:0:0:3::3, FF13::3) has been generated on the Switch. The mapping entry indicates that the data is sent by Source1.
