(Optional) Configuring the IPv6 Router-Alert Option

(Optional) Configuring the IPv6 Router-Alert Option

Context

By default, the switch does not check whether MLD messages contain the Router-Alert option and sends all the MLD messages to the upper-layer routing protocol. Checking the Router-Alert option can improve system performance, reduce route costs, and increase network security. When the received MLD messages do not contain the Router-Alert option, the switch discards the messages.

By default, the switch sends MLD messages with the Router-Alert option.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run vlan vlan-id

    The VLAN view is displayed.

  3. Run mld snooping require-router-alert

The switch is configured to check the Router-Alert option in received MLD messages.

By default, the switch does not check the Router-Alert option in received MLD messages.

  4. Run mld snooping send-router-alert disable

The switch is configured not to add the Router-Alert option in outgoing MLD messages.

By default, the switch sends MLD messages with the Router-Alert option.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
