Networking Requirements

As shown in Figure 9-8, Router connects to user hosts through a Layer 2 switch. The user-side VLANIF interface of Router has static groups 225.1.1.1 to 225.1.1.5 configured and does not run IGMP. There are four receivers on the network: HostA, HostB, HostC, and HostD. HostA and HostB expect to receive data of multicast groups 225.1.1.1 to 225.1.1.3 for long time. HostC and HostD expect to receive data of multicast groups 225.1.1.4 to 225.1.1.5.

Configuration Roadmap

To meet the preceding requirements, configure a static router port and static member ports of IGMP snooping on the Layer 2 Switch. The configuration roadmap is as follows:

  1. On the Switch, create a VLAN and add interfaces to the VLAN.
  2. Enable IGMP snooping globally and in the VLAN.
  3. Configure a static router port.
  4. Configure static member ports.

Procedure

  1. Create a VLAN and add interfaces to the VLAN.

  5. Verify the configuration.
