Message

BFD/4/STACHG_TODWN:BFD session changed to Down. (SlotNumber=[SlotNumber], Discriminator=[Discriminator], Diagnostic=[Diagnostic], Applications=[Applications], ProcessPST=[ProcessPST], BindInterfaceName=[BindInterfaceName], InterfacePhysicalState=[InterfacePhysicalState], InterfaceProtocolState=[InterfaceProtocolState], TunnelName=[TunnelName])

Description

The status of a BFD session on an interface board changed to Down.

Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Meaning

SlotNumber

Indicates the slot number of an interface board.

Discriminator

Indicates the discriminator of a session.

Diagnostic

Indicates the type of the Down state. The values are as follows:
  • AdminDown: The local end proactively enters the AdminDown state.
  • ReceiveAdminDown: The local end enters the Down state after receiving a BFD packet with the AdminDown state from the remote end.
  • DetectDown: The local end enters the Down state when the detection expires because it does not receive BFD packets from the remote end.
  • NeighborDown: The local end enters the Down state after receiving a BFD packet with the Down state from the remote end.

Applications

Indicates the application that is bound to the BFD session.

ProcessPST

Indicates the flag bit of the PST that is modified.

BindInterfaceName

Indicates the name of the bound interface.

InterfacePhysicalState

Indicates the physical status of the interface.

InterfaceProtocolState

Indicates the protocol status of the interface.

TunnelName

Indicates the name of tunnel.

Possible Causes

  1. The BFD session went Down when no BFD packets was received for the BFD session within a detection period.
  2. The BFD session entered the NeighborDown state when a Down packet was received from the peer.
  3. The BFD session entered the AdminDown state when being shut down.
  4. The BFD session entered the ReceiveAdminDown state when an AdminDown packet was received from the peer.

Procedure

  1. Run the display current-configuration configuration bfd command to check whether the BFD session recovers.

    • If the BFD session recovers, go to Step 5.
    • If the BFD session does not recover, go to Step 2.

  2. Run the display current-configuration configuration bfd command to check whether BFD is disabled on either of both ends.

    • If BFD is disabled on either of both ends, enable BFD and go to Step 1.
    • If BFD is enabled on either of both ends, go to Step 3.

  3. Run the display bfd session all command to check whether the BFD sessions are deleted or shut down on both ends.

    • If the BFD sessions are deleted or shut down on both ends, reconfigure BFD sessions and go to Step 1.
    • the BFD sessions are not deleted or shut down on both ends, go to Step 4.

  4. Run the ping command to check whether the link monitored by the BFD session is working properly.

    • If the link monitored by the BFD session is working properly, contact technical support personnel.
    • If the link monitored by the BFD session is not working properly, rectify the link fault.

  5. End.
