PIM/6/GRP_ADDR_NOT_MCAST:In VPN instance [vpn-instance-name], because the group address [group-address]/[group-mask-length] is not a multicast address, the [message-type] message received from the interface [interface-name] was ignored.


The group address contained in the PIM message was not a multicast address. This group address was ignored.


Parameter Name Parameter Meaning
[vpn-instance-name] Indicates the name of a VPN instance.
[group-address] Indicates the group address.
[group-mask-length] Indicates the mask length of group address.
[message-type] Indicates the message type. The value can be:
  • PIM Join/Prune message

  • PIM-SM Assert message

  • PIM-SM Register-Stop message

  • PIM-SSM Assert message

[interface-name] Indicates the name of an interface.

Possible Causes

PIM-SM-enabled interface received a PIM message in which the group address was not a multicast address.
