Possible Causes

  • Cause 1 (EntityTrapFaultID=[136193]): The transmit power of the optical module was too high.

  • Cause 2 (EntityTrapFaultID=[136194]): The transmit power of the optical module was too low.

  • Cause 3 (EntityTrapFaultID=[136195]): The receive power of the optical module was too high.

  • Cause 4 (EntityTrapFaultID=[136196]): The receive power of the optical module was too low.

  • Cause 5 (EntityTrapFaultID=[136203]): An incorrect optical module was installed.

  • Cause 6 (EntityTrapFaultID=[136231]): The IIC of the optical module failed.

Procedure

  • Cause 1: The transmit power of the optical module was too high.
    1. Run the display interface command in the user view to check whether the transmit power Tx Power of the local interface is within the allowed range.

      • If so, Collect traps, logs, and configurations, and contact technical support personnel, and go to step 3.
      • If not, replace the optical module.

    2. If the fault persists, collect alarms, logs, and configurations and contact technical support personnel.
    3. End
  • Cause 2: The transmit power of the optical module was too low.
    1. Run the display interface command in the user view to check whether the transmit power Tx Power of the local interface is within the allowed range.

      • If so, go to step 2.
      • If not, replace the optical module.

    2. Collect traps, logs, and configurations, and contact technical support personnel.
  • Cause 3: The receive power of the optical module was too high.
    1. Run the display interface command in the user view to check whether the receive power Rx Power of the local interface is within the allowed range.

      • If so, collect traps, logs, and configurations, contact technical support personnel, and go to step 7.
      • If so, go to step 2.

    2. Check whether a trap is generated for high transmit optical power on the peer optical module.

      • If so, rectify the peer optical module fault first, and go to step 7.
      • If not, go to step 3.

    3. Check whether the peer optical module matches the local optical module.

      • If not, replace the local optical module to match the peer optical module, and go to step 7.
      • If not, go to step 4.

    4. Add optical attenuator to the local optical module by -5 dBm (recommended).
    5. If the fault persists, replace the optical module.
    6. If the fault persists, collect alarms, logs, and configurations and contact technical support personnel.
    7. End
  • Cause 4: The receive power of the optical module was too low.
    1. Run the display interface command in the user view to check whether the receive power Rx Power of the local interface is within the allowed range.

      • If so, collect traps, logs, and configurations, contact technical support personnel, and go to step 7.
      • If so, go to step 2.

    2. If no trap on low receive optical power is generated and the peer interface is Up, go to step 4.
    3. If the peer interface is Up, and the trap is cleared, go to step 7.
    4. Check whether the optical fiber is in good condition. If not, replace the fiber.
    5. Check whether the local interface generates a trap message. If so, replace the optical module of the local interface.
    6. If the fault persists after the optical module is replaced, collect traps, logs, and configurations, and contact technical support personnel.
    7. End
  • Cause 5: An incorrect optical module was installed.
    1. Check whether the optical module is certified for Huawei Ethernet switches.
    2. Check whether the local interface generates a trap message. If so, replace the optical module of the local interface.
    3. Check whether the peer interface generates a trap message. If so, replace the optical module of the peer interface.
    4. If the fault persists after the optical module is replaced, collect alarms, logs, and configurations, and contact technical support personnel.
  • Cause 6: The IIC of the optical module failed.
    1. Check whether the optical module is installed securely. If so, remove the optical module and check whether the connector has bent pins or is damaged. Replace the optical module. If the fault persists, contact technical support personnel.
