OSPF/3/OSPF_IF_AUTH_FAILURE:A packet is received on a non-virtual interface from a router whose authentication key or authentication type conflicts with the local authentication key or authentication type. (RouterId=[RouterId], IfIpAddress=[IfIpAddress], AddressLessIf=[AddressLessIf], PacketSrc=[PacketSrc], ConfigErrorType=[ConfigErrorType], PacketType=[PacketType])


The authentication on the non-virtual interface failed. The possible cause is that the configuration on the non-virtual interface of the peer end conflicted with the configuration of the local end.

Possible Causes

The authentication mode configured on the non-virtual interface was incorrect.


  1. Run the display current-configuration command to check whether the authentication configurations on the two ends are consistent.

    • If the authentication configurations are consistent, go to Step 3.

    • If the authentication configurations are inconsistent, go to Step 2.

  2. Do as follows based on the networking:

    • (1) If the networking allows you to modify the configurations of the two ends to be consistent, go to Step 3.
    • (1) If the networking does not allow you to modify the configurations on the two ends to be consistent, go to Step 4.

  3. If the plain text authentication mode is used, modify the authentication passwords on the two ends to be consistent. If the encrypted text authentication mode is used, re-configure the authentication mode on the two ends as required. Then, check whether the trap is cleared.

    • If the alarm is cleared, go to Step 5.
    • If the alarm is not cleared, go to Step 4.

  4. Contact technical support personnel technical support personnel.
  5. End.
