Enabling the Dynamic ECN Threshold for All Lossless Queues

Context

To ensure lossless forwarding of lossless services as much as possible, run this command to enable the dynamic ECN threshold of all lossless queues. After this function is enabled, the device dynamically adjusts the ECN threshold for lossless queues based on the Incast value (N:1) and percentage of elephant and mice flows. A larger value of N indicates a large Incast value and higher burst pressure of the buffer. This function prevents PFC from being triggered and meets bandwidth requirements of delay-sensitive mice flows and throughput-sensitive elephant flows as much as possible.

After the dynamic ECN threshold of all lossless queues is enabled, if the packet forwarding delay and ECN marking probability cannot meet requirements, run this command to adjust them for all lossless queues enabled with the dynamic ECN threshold. Then the device sets the dynamic ECN threshold of all lossless queues based on the expected forwarding delay and sets the ECN flag for packets exceeding the ECN threshold based on the ECN marking probability.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run low-latency fabric

    The low-latency network function is enabled and the low-latency network view is displayed.

    By default, the low-latency network function is not enabled.

    NOTE:

    The low-latency fabric command does not take effect immediately after configuration, but takes effect after you save the configuration and restart the device.

  3. Run qos dynamic-ecn-threshold enable

    The dynamic ECN threshold for all lossless queues is enabled.

    By default, the dynamic ECN threshold of all lossless queues is not enabled.

    NOTE:

    After the low-latency network function is enabled, the dynamic ECN threshold of all lossless queues is enabled on the device by default. You can run the undo qos dynamic-ecn-threshold enable command to disable the dynamic ECN threshold of all lossless queues.

  4. (Optional) Run qos dynamic-ecn-threshold { target-delay target-delay-time | mark-percentage mark-percentage } *

    The expected forwarding delay and ECN marking probability of all lossless queues enabled with the dynamic ECN threshold is configured.

    By default, the expected forwarding delay and ECN marking probability of all lossless queues enabled with the dynamic ECN threshold are 50 microseconds and 1, respectively.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
