Networking Requirements

As networks develop quickly, IP networks carry multiple services such as voice and video services increasingly. The services pose high requirements on network reliability. Networks need to provide fast fault detection and processing.

In Figure 7-20, link connectivity needs to be detected.

Figure 7-20 Configuring CC based on the directly connected interface

Configuration Roadmap

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

  1. Configure CC on SwitchA and SwitchB to detect link connectivity.

  2. Configure association between CFM and an interface on SwitchA and configure SwitchA to make the associated interface to go Down when CFM detects a fault.

Procedure

  1. Configure CC.

    # Enable global CFM on SwitchA.

    <HUAWEI> system-view
    [~HUAWEI] sysname SwitchA
    [*HUAWEI] commit
    [~SwitchA] cfm enable
    Info: Succeeded in enabling CFM.
    [*SwitchA] commit

    # Enable global CFM on SwitchB.

    <HUAWEI> system-view
    [~HUAWEI] sysname SwitchB
    [*HUAWEI] commit
    [~SwitchB] cfm enable
    Info: Succeeded in enabling CFM.
    [*SwitchB] commit

    # Enable CC on SwitchA.

    [~SwitchA] cfm md md1
    [*SwitchA-md-md1] ma ma1

    [*SwitchA-md-md1-ma-ma1] quit
    [*SwitchA-md-md1] quit
    [*SwitchA] commit

    # Enable CC on SwitchB.

    [~SwitchB] cfm md md1
    [*SwitchB-md-md1] ma ma1
    [*SwitchB-md-md1-ma-ma1] mep mep-id 2 interface 10ge 1/0/1 outward

    # Verify the configuration.

After the configuration is complete, run the display cfm remote-mep command on SwitchA and SwitchB. You can see that the CFM status is up.
